Once again, Texas Democrats showed they care more about grandstanding than doing their job.
Just a few months since they walked out of a session, this time they flew all the way to D.C.
All to prevent Republicans from passing a much-needed set of bills.
The governor has promised to make these job-shirking Dems pay. But, in the meantime, the state senate managed to do its job.
From Daily Wire:
The Texas Senate passed a voter integrity bill while 51 Texas Democrat House members and eight Texas Democrat Senate members fled the state to subvert democracy by denying the Republican-led House the quorum needed to approve bills in Governor Greg Abbott’s special session agenda.
“Senators voted 18-4 along party lines to approve the legislation. Eight Senate Democrats announced that they too had fled to Washington, D.C., on Monday, with a ninth expected to arrive Monday evening,” National Review reported. “However, with 22 out of 31 members present, the Senate kept a quorum and was able to pass the measure.”
Yesterday, Texas Democrats from the state house flew to D.C. in private jets to protest a slew of voter integrity laws.
They grandstanded before the entire country, with swamp liberals beside them, instead of doing their job.
You see, they knew they didn’t have near enough votes to block these pieces of legislation. So, they pulled a kind of extreme filibuster, so that there wouldn’t be enough lawmakers present to get anything done.
Typical. Democrats hate the filibuster when it can be used against them. But they’ll pull any tricks they can think of, to get their way.
Despite this pathetic lack of respect for the very people they serve, Texas state senators still passed the law in the upper chamber.
Democrats have been trying to oppose voter integrity bills coming out of various states. I guess they don’t want our elections safe and secure?
You’d think Democrats would be very much on board with voter integrity, considering fraud robs minorities and all Americans of their rights.
Instead, Democrats pull pathetic stunts like this to spread bad information about much-needed voter reform.
Are you glad Texas Republicans are standing up to Democrats and their shenanigans?
